4 things that are important for a backup phone

All of us live in the era of smartphones and mobile apps. They have become an integral part of our lives. So much is the influence and utility of a smartphone that a large number of people have a nervous breakdown when their phones run out of charge or need servicing. This makes the backup phone an important part of the upwardly mobile professional’s life. Let us try and discuss a few things hat are important for a backup phone

Mi-4-Lying

So here’s my main phone, the Mi4. I simply love it. MIUI6 is superb and the device has amazing specs. I am very sure that I will never ever hit a snag with this guy. But then, it always pays to be doubly prepared, especially when it comes to electronic devices. So then, I started planning my backup phone. Here are the things that I think are important to look for in a back up phone

  1. Specs : Should be almost or exactly similar to the main phone. This will help you to continue the same usage pattern that you had with the main phone in terms of apps, workflows and everything else. If the specs are marginally different, it is ok, but a drastic difference is detrimental to productivity
  2. Android : The closer the backup phone is to your main phone, the better! If there is massive difference like say Gingerbread and Lollipop, you’re finished! KitKat and Lollipop is fine though! This again stems from the facts that you want all apps to work optimally and also to keep the UI flow the same across the devices!
  3. Camera: If you are a talent-less photographer like me, the camera does not make any difference whatsoever. But even then, you need to keep the camera in mind at all times. Remember between MIUI and the Moto G there is a sea of difference in the camera function and output. Be mindful of that. If you are particular about the camera, then the budget for your backup phone may go up. Balance wants and needs with budget here and you will be happy.
  4. Display : This is a no brainer! The display has to be similar in size and depth and capability to your main phone. Else it will be a nightmare!

So which is my backup phone for the Mi4? You guessed it! It’s the Redmi Note 4G!
