American company InFocus has launched an interesting device in the entry level budget segment. The InFocus M2 is a very useful and great spec-ed phone and it is being priced at 4,999/- in India. For the price point, the phone has one amazing feature that will blow your mind. It has 8 MP front and rear camera with flash on both sides! Yes, you heard that right! With a budget-friendly price tag, the smartphone will easily woo any buyer with its spec sheet. So is it the new big thing? Let us see now

The M2  looks ordinary overall. It is not an earth shaking design, but works given the price I guess. The front of the smartphone is all glass. Both the top and bottom bezels are very wide. The bottom portion has the three regular capacitive  buttons (non-lit). The rear portion is a bit curved and seems to be inspired by the Moto G. The rear cover has a matte finish which prevent fingerprints and smudges, however, the front glass gets smudged very easily. The rear cover can be removed to see  two SIM card slots and a microSD card slot. The battery is irremovable. The build quality is good. For the budget market, the device will please the buyers. However, it would have been better if the front Flash was designed better, currently it looks a bit odd and slightly unsettling.

The device has a 4.2-inch WXGA TFT LCD display and offers a resolution of 768 x 1280 pixels at 355ppi. The display is sharp, bright and looks great. The design is ordinary, but the display quality is very good.

Outdoor visibility is good, far better than other smartphones in this price range. The viewing angles are decent. The thick bezels gives an impression that the display size is small

The phone runs on a 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6582 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM which can be expandable up to 64GB via microSD card slot. As per benchmark scores, the device is at par  with Lenovo A6000, Xiaomi Redmi 1S and Moto E. Benchmark aside, users will not have any issues with the overall performance. I saw lags sometimes while opening apps, but then it’s completely doable. The M2 also offers good multimedia experience.

Camera: The 8MP front and rear cameras come with Flash on both side. The rear camera is exceptionally good for a smartphone priced under Rs 5,000. The image quality is good and colors are moderately vivid. The camera is a lethargic while focusing but then it is just a budget smartphone. Another noticeable thing about the rear camera is that it  captures good Macro shots. The front camera is capable of taking good selfies. The selfie camera clicks automatically when you smile and offers a wide range of  beautification options. This will please a lot of selfie addicts.

Battery: The device is powered by a 2,010 mAh battery. Standby battery life is good. WiFi drains a lot of juice. Overall, the device can survive a full working day with mixed usage and a bit of gaming.

Verdict: Given the price and the feature set, go for it! But expect no huge earth shaking feature! The Phone is useful and small enough for the pocket. Following on the footsteps of Xiaomi, they are trying to make it a household device by controlling supplies using the lottery sale model. All in all, buy it and set right expectations of it.
