OPPO has been in the forefront of the selfie revolution in the smartphone market in India. Between them and Vivo they have pretty much made the rear camera the secondary camera on the smartphone. These cameras are often accompanied with impressive software tweaks that give you selfies that are supreme in quality. They have now launched the budget A57 handset at Rs 14,990 in India with powerful selfie frills
The A57 saw it’s China launch in November last year. The phone is like a scaled down version of the very popular F1 and F1s flagships that are doing very well for OPPO. The Price of Rs 14,990 puts it in a segment where the selfie centric phones will become a viable option for the budget buyer. And that is one segment that can open up a new set of buyers for them.
The phone has a 5.2-inch HD display with a 2.5D curved glass front. The device runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor and has 3GB of RAM. The phone has 32GB internal memory which is expandable upto 256 GB using a microSD card.
Coming to the camera, the front one is a 16-Megapixel selfie camera that has an LED flash. The rear camera which would normally be called the primary camera has a 13-Megapixel sensor along with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and LED flash. The camera app has a lot of nifty customizations like the hand gestures and good bokeh options to highlight the subject and obscure the background artistically.
It runs on Android Marshmallow and the UI is Color OS 3.0. The phone runs on a 2900 mAH battery. The phone will be available from February 3rd 2017 in India. We will tell you more when we get a review unit to take a closer look at this phone.
