Topwise Communications, a leading Chinese device maker is all set to enter the Indian Smartphone Market. In the past few years, Chinese OEMs have fared very well in the Indian market especially in the smartphone segment. With this new entry, we will see one more key Chinese player enter the segment with proven expertise and reliable track record.
Founded in June 2005, TopWise Communication is one of the biggest ODMs in China, and is among top three printed circuit board (PCBA) manufacturers. The company is headquartered in Hong Kong and specializes in manufacturing all types of smartphones, PC tablets and POS machines. Topwise has been manufacturing for brands worldwide including top Indian smartphone brands. The company provides complete ecosystem including R&D, Design, Manufacturing, Software Development and Brand – Sales. The company has three manufacturing facilities – two in Huizhou and another one in Ji’an.
COMIO as a brand was established in 2008 under one of China’s largest mobile phone solutions provider Ding Zhi Group wherein they had launched their first device in 2015. The brand is known to create remarkable hardware & software for the end consumers. COMIO has already started with its Indian operations and is all set to launch their first few devices in India in mid-August 2017. The devices will be catering the highest growing segment – Mid-Level priced from 6K to 12K. The CEO & Director of the company is Mr. Sanjay Kumar Kalirona who holds a rich experience in the telecom industry.
The expertise and tack record that the COMIO brand brings in given what Topwise has been doing in the area of device production promises to be interesting. This will bring a lot more competition into the already hyper crowded and extremely competitive budget and lower mid-range segment in India.
We will have to wait and see how this new entrant stands up to the other Chinese incumbents like Xiaomi, OnePlus, OPPO, Vivo and Huawei that are already playing hard and aggressive in this segment. We will keep you updated with details as they happen.
