Infinix S4 comes with a sleek body with a weight of 155 grams. The device has a Dual 2.5D Glass body on both sides and its curved edges merge with the display screen. The back of the smartphone is smooth and shiny wih gradient design. It starts with a blue colour and when we go down it gradually becomes black. We can see the triple cameras vertically placed one below the another in the top left of the smartphone. Below it we can find the LED flash. We can also find the fingerprint sensor which is well-embedded just above the company’s logo. The volume rockers and power button is present on the right side of the device and the dual SIM card slot and the MicroSD card slot on the left side of the device. We can find the speaker, microUSB port and audio jack on the bottom of the device.

Infinix S4 comes with large 6.21” HD+ drop notch screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio that gives end-to-end access of the screen with 89% Screen to body ratio. It has a sleek structure with a width of just 7.9 mm and weighs lightly at 155g. S4’s 500 nits brightness and 1300:1 contrast ratio brings out the best of videos. The device has a Dual 2.5D Glass body on both sides and its curved edges merge with the display screen. According to the company, “The phone’s design developed through a 6-stage analysis process that evaluated various parameters to offer comfortable handling and pleasing aesthetics”. We can see that there is a vibrant display which is good both indoors and outdoors.

Infinix S4 runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box with y XOS 5.0 Cheetah OS layer on the top. We can see some bloatware on the smartphone. But we can uninstall the applications if we want. There is a Smart Panel present on the side of the display where you swipe left to reveal commonly used tools and apps which you can customize to suit your needs. We can keep the apps which we use often in the smart panel. But we find that the smart panel is quite ddistubing sometimes. We can also disable the smart panel in the settings menu.

As far as hardware goes, Infinix S4 comes with Helio P22 with Octa-core with Arm Cortex-A53 up 2.0 GHz on 64-bit architecture. The memory of the smartphone consists of 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory which can be expandable up to 256GB. We can do multi-tasking without any problems. We opened and kept 5 apps at a time. The apps loaded well without any lags. As far as performance goes, the device handles well under load. No complaints given the budget that it comes for.

Coming to the gaming experience, we can see that we can play light to moderate games well. We tried to play candy crush and we did not see any frame drops. But when we try to play heavy games like Asphalt 9 and PUBG we can find some lag. We can play PUBG on low graphics mode only.

Infinix S4 comes with triple camera on the back which consists of 13MP primary lens with f1.8 aperture, 2MP depth sensor and 8MP wide-angle lens. The ultra-wide angle lens allows for much wider image which allows us to take perfect group pictures without much squeezing in or space adjustment. We tried taking some pictures and the pictures were quite decent. But the time taken to take the pictures is quite a lot. It takes time to focus and take the picture. We can also see that the low light phots were not up to the mark. We can find a single selfie camera inside the drop notch. Infinix S4 has a selfie camera of 32 megapixel with an aperture of f2.0. We are not satisfied with the selfies taken with the smartphone.

Here are some sample pictures taken from the device.

Infinix S4 comes with a battery of 4000mAh which lasts approximately for 2 days. On a full day of light to moderate usage, the battery could pull almost two days. On the days when I use the smartphone heavily, we can see that it lasts for a day with some more charge in it.

Infinix S4 supports dual nano SIMs and a separate microSD card slot. The smartphone supports GSM, WCDMA, 4G LTE and OTG. We can see that the calls were clearer and loud enough.

Infinix S4 has a fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature. Both thee fingerprint sensor and thee face unlock unlocks the device quickly.

Verdict

Infinix S4 comes with some good features like Triple camera and large battery. At the price of INR 8999, Infinix is an interesting budget smartphone with good finish and lightweight design. But there are lots of options in this price range. Let us see how this device competes in this competition.
