First let us see the design of the OPPO F15. At a first glance, we were impressed with the light weight of the smartphone which is 172 grams and a thickness of 7.9mm. The device is very comfortable in the hands and we did not feel its weight even if we keep for a long time. The lightning black color we received looked very impressive with psychedelic nature and we can see a mix of blue and black depending on the light it receives. We can see the Quad camera on the top left hand corner of the back which is present vertically. There is LED flash present elongated near the camera setup which matches well with the camera. We can find the OPPO branding on the bottom left corner present vertically which looks nice on the back. OPPO F15 comes with a plastic body but has a premium finish with its laminated back panel. As the back is glossy, the back attracts lots of fingerprints and we can see smudges on the back.

The front of the smartphone comes with a narrow bezel and a small water drop notch is present on the top. OPPO F15 comes with 20:9 aspect ratio and has a display of 6.4-inch. On the right side of the smartphone we can see the power button and on the left side volume rockers are present in the middle and above that we can see the SIM card and microSD card slot. On the bottom of the device we can see the audio jack, type C port and speaker grill. As the smartphone is lightweight, keeping in hand and taking selfies are made easy.

Coming to the display part, OPPO F15 comes with a Full HD+ AMOLED screen and Gorilla glass 5. The display comes with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. OPPO has come with 6.4 inch display and has 20:9 aspect ratio. Even with this aspect ratio the smartphone easily fits into the palms. The display is very good with vivid colours and contrasts. The display is good even in bright sunlight and viewing angles are wide. The video playback is nice and crisp. OPPO F15 comes with in-display fingerprint sensor and is quick to unlock the smartphone. There is also face unlock present in this smartphone which is very fast to unlock the device.

OPPO F15 comes with a storage capacity of 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM which can be extended up to 512GB with the help of a microSD card. There is a dedicated slot present for the microSD card along with slots for two Nano SIMs. The smartphone comes with Mediatek Helio P70 chipset which is very adequate in terms of performance, speed and gaming. The performance of the smartphone is quite good. There was no heating problem when we used the phone for a longer time playing games or watching videos. Other features include dual 4G with VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, Wide vine L1 certification, GPS, and the sensors present are magnetic sensor, light sensor, distance sensor, gravity, and accelerometer. OPPO F15 also comes with 20 Watts VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge which charges the device to 50% in just 30 minutes. This is very much needed in this fast pace world. According to OPPO, “The VOOC 3.0 charging system also focuses on the higher current instead of higher voltage, ensuring greater safety”.

OPPO F15 comes with its ColorOS 6.1.2 based on Android 9 Pie. It is well optimized for performance. To complement its true full screen, OPPO F15 adopts a borderless design which employs blank spaces instead of harsh lines to create spaces and layers. Light elegant gradients replace large colour blocks for beautiful transitions between colours and to enhance visuals.

Gaming experience in OPPO F15 is also quite good. We tried playing PUBG in medium graphics and the experience was smooth. Using the game assistant of OPPO we can also block notifications while playing games. Other games also worked fairly well. F15 comes with Game Boost 2.0 which looks deep into the handset’s performance to examine latency and control issues, as well as touch control and refresh rates and delivers a smoother performance.

OPPO F15 comes with a battery capacity of 4000mAh which gives decent battery life. Added with its VOOC charge this smartphone works well for heavy usage. For those who are heavy users of smartphone this device will be good.

OPPO F15 comes with quad camera setup. It comes with a 48MP Main camera with an f/1.7 aperture, 8MP (F2.25) Ultra-Wide Angle Macro Lens, 2M (F2.4) Mono Lens, 2M (F2.4) Portrait Lens. On the front we have 16MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. The pictures we took from the smartphone is decent and we could get some nice shots. The low light shots are also fairly good. We can take Ultra-wide angle shots with the smartphone.  The Ultra-wide angle lens also works as a Macro lens which lets you go as close to 3 centimeters on an object. When we try to take macro shots this lens automatically senses that and adjusts accordingly. F15 also comes with AI Video Beautification feature, which when applied to both front and back cameras, provides customised analysis of every face, in order to apply custom beautification adjustments while optimising for facial details such natural skin veins.

OPPO F15 also inherits the anti-shake feature from the Reno series. By combining both EIS software and gyroscope hardware based anti-shake technology, shooting videos on OPPO F15 under shaky conditions appear clearer, sharper and more stable. We could take pictures on the Night Portrait Mode on OPPO F15 under specific scenarios such as dark streets, restaurants, parks, etc. the selfies taken were decently clear.

Here are few sample pictures taken from the smartphone.

Verdict

OPPO F15 looks stylish and has a quad camera setup. It also has AMOLED display which gives nice viewing angles for the display. For the price of INR 19,990 the 4000mAH battery and fast charging looks impressive. Very clearly, the OPPO F15 is a solid mid-ranger that delivers solid value and great performance. We are very impressed with this one from OPPO. The F series gets a solid upgrade here.
