From the launch of the first OnePlus device, the brand has demonstrated strong integration with Qualcomm, using the latest flagship processor to create the best user experience. Talking about the partnership, Sanjay Mehta, Senior Vice President, Qualcomm and also a OnePlus star, said, “OnePlus creates every smartphone as if it’s creating a piece of art & not just making a mass-produced product. All of OnePlus smartphones have so far been powered by premium Snapdragon mobile platforms, ensuring that every generation of OnePlus handsets deliver a powerful performance ”

The Snapdragon 835 is the first 10nm mobile processor especially designed to support next generation entertainment experiences and connected cloud services that OnePlus phones are known to offer. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 means more feature integration, smaller size and lower power consumption with better battery life

Oneplus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed this in a post on the OnePlus forum where he has said the following:

Our mission has always been to share the best technology with the world. This starts with building a great product that performs smoothly. We do this by putting together the best combination of components and making them work together seamlessly.

With the OnePlus 5, our commitment to this philosophy continues. We’re proud to announce the OnePlus 5 will feature the Snapdragon™ 835 processor, which sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance. With graphically-demanding apps, for example, you’ll notice how fast they load and how well they run.

But choosing the right components is only the first step. You also have to optimize performance to create the best user experience. When we began developing the OnePlus 5, we envisioned a smartphone with flawlessly smooth performance. To illustrate how we made it happen, we’d like to share a bit about our process.

One of the main areas we wanted to improve was touch latency. Our engineers tested why scrolling occasionally differed between phones. There wasn’t a lot of precedent for them to work with – no benchmarks, no industry case studies to learn from. So we used a special high-speed camera to track screen movements and measure input speeds. As a result, apps respond quickly to your touch for a seamless user experience.

We also wanted to improve the overall feeling of smoothness. To achieve this, our engineers added a feature to OxygenOS to better manage the way your apps perform. The apps you use most are ready to go when you turn on the OnePlus 5. Apps you rarely use are deprioritized and kept from affecting performance.

These are just some examples, of course. But they illustrate how obsessively we pay attention to the details when optimizing the performance of OnePlus products. We’re driven to perfect even the smallest aspects of our products. And when you get your hands on the OnePlus 5, we hope you’ll notice the difference.

So it stands officially confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor from Qualcomm
