Grupo Condis Embraces the Hybrid Cloud with Red Hat OpenShift

cloud-computing

Red Hat, Inc, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, today announced that Grupo Condis has adopted Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s most comprehensive enterprise Kubernetes platform, as part of its digital transformation strategy. Building on the back of the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform in Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift helps Condis respond to market needs faster, build greater customer loyalty and create more innovative services without sacrificing the stability of critical operations.

Red Hat OpenShift has been at the heart of this whole project and has given Condis great added value as a facilitator and a key piece of our digital transformation process.

In operation for more than 60 years, the leading supermarket chain according to the Spanish ranking by turnover kept up its digital transformation plan in 2018 with the implementation of a new CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system and the subsequent launch of a new mobile application for customers. The deployment of these various projects, either based locally or in the cloud, resulted in a fragmented IT landscape and the need for full integration to better interconnect disparate data sources.

With Red Hat OpenShift running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Condis has a more secure, modern, scalable and integrated infrastructure that helps respond more quickly to the needs of its various stakeholders, including franchises, customers, partners and employees. Condis is now able to build and run applications in a hybrid cloud environment based on Red Hat OpenShift, which helps the company to develop new digital services faster and more effectively address a constantly changing consumer market. Over a three-month period, Mindcurv, a Red Hat Advanced Partner, helped Condis with the development, implementation and management of the project, which ranged from planning and design to the initial deployment of Red Hat OpenShift.

Condis chose a microservices-based approach to facilitate the real-time integration of both internal and external data, allowing it to offer a personalised experience in multiple channels based on customer demand. Customers can choose their favourite store, purchase orders and receive a personalised offer according to their preferences. This drive to get closer to the consumer is reflected in the knowledge that the chain has of its customers, adapting offers to better suit individual needs and more swiftly meeting customer orders whether they come from a physical store, the app, a chat line or the website. Condis is now able to offer its online services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In the near future, Condis is planning to launch further innovations based on Red Hat OpenShift, such as providing digital receipts in real time on the customer’s app, as opposed to the 24 hours that it takes today. This will enable projects like electronic-only ticketing, eliminating the need for paper printing and helping the company to be more environmentally responsible.
