“We are really excited to bring the newly-launched Echo Show 5 to our customers on Prime Day,” said Parag Gupta, Head of Amazon Devices. “The visual experience of Alexa can be extremely handy — whether it’s looking up recipes, watching short videos, or updating shopping lists. We hope that the Echo Show 5 will continue to drive the voice-first experience in India can’t wait to see how customers use Alexa in their daily lives”, he adds.

New visual features to try on Echo devices with screen:

  • Rich Entertainment – Echo Show 5 is great for watching your favorite shows from Prime Video. We have a great catalogue of award-winning movies and shows, and Prime originals such as Comicstaan. Users can watch music videos from Hungama or short news clips from Aaj Tak, NDTV and more. You can also listen to your favorite songs from Amazon Music, Saavn, Gaana, Hungama Music, TuneIn, and more. Simply say, “Alexa, play party songs” to play music for your dinner party.

  • Cook with Alexa – Echo devices are even more useful in the kitchen. Simply ask Alexa for step-by-step cooking instructions by saying “Alexa, give me the recipe for Palak Paneer” or “Alexa, let’s start cooking”, and Alexa will walk you step-by-step through popular recipes curated by star chef, Sanjeev Kapoor. To get the best experience customers can use instructions like “play” and “pause”, “next step” and “repeat step” — removing the need to manually reference recipes while hands are occupied with food preparation. You can also “play a song”, “set a timer”, or “add items to the shopping list” in between the cooking steps to make the experience more enjoyable and productive.

  • Watch how-to videos – The new integration with wikiHow allows you to access hundreds of how-to videos by voice. Just ask “Alexa, how to crack open a coconut”, “Alexa, how to sleep better”, or “Alexa, how to make a paper boat”.

  • Personalise Your Experience – Add a personal photo from your latest vacation to make the home screen unique to you and your family. You can also connect to your Facebook account and play a slideshow of your photos, view a specific album or set your photos to rotate in the background. The new ambient lighting mode auto-adjusts the brightness of the screen based on the brightness of the room—so it’s never too bright or too dark.

Do more with Alexa around the home:

  • Connect with Family and Friends – Stay in touch with your closest friends and family with hands-free Skype video calls or use Alexa calling with those who have an Echo Spot, Echo Show, or the Alexa App. Plus, with Echo devices in different rooms of your home, you can easily drop in on another room for a quick conversation or make an announcement that dinner is ready.

  • New Ways to Control Your Smart Home – A new smart home dashboard on the Echo Show gives you even more control over compatible smart home devices and groups. Simply say, “Alexa, turn on the lights,” and use the on-screen controls to adjust the light’s color or brightness.

  • Expanded Routines with Alexa – Customise your morning and evening routines with Alexa. Set an alarm at night and Alexa will ask if you’d like to listen to nature or sleep sounds to relax. You can also create a routine using a smart plug to switch-ON the Geyser 15 minutes after your alarm goes off, or one that gives you weather forecast, and morning news when you say “Alexa, start my day.”

  • Privacy by Design – Echo devices are built with multiple layers of privacy protections. The device includes a microphone/camera off button that electrically disconnects both the microphone and camera, and a clear visual indicator that shows when audio or video is streaming to the cloud. Plus, Echo Show 5 has a built-in camera shutter so now you can easily cover the camera physically.
