Practo’s vision is to simplify healthcare for a billion Indians by empowering them with pivotal information that helps them make the right healthcare decisions. As the next step in this direction, Practo is introducing a wheelchair icon on the clinic and hospital profiles. This will help people who require a wheelchair facility for themselves or their friends and families find a medical establishment that suits their needs.

Over 21 million people in India are suffering from one or the other kind of disability. According to the 2011 census, 20.3% of people with disabilities in India have movement disabilities. The need for this information is vital for those who rely on wheelchairs for mobility, and Practo believes that this input will enable them to choose the right clinic or hospital for them. In addition to existing filters like consultation fees, online booking, and availability, Practo will be adding a wheelchair filter, which will narrow down the search for clinics and hospitals with wheelchair services in a matter of few seconds.

Practo has been working with various clinics and hospitals over the last few months to create the database and would continue reaching out to more establishments with the hope and objective to make it all-encompassing. Practo also urges patients to come forward and share information about wheelchair facilities at clinics and hospitals they regularly visit at [email protected]. This will help them to create a database that millions of people in the country can benefit from and get access to quality healthcare.
