TECNO is a mobile phone brand that has been making very thoughtful and innovative strides in capturing the Indian mobile market in various segments. One of their key product lines is the POVA series for the aspirational young buyers. The latest offering in that series is the POVA 5 Pro 5G which brings a lot of great and unique features to the table that are definitely sure to impress the segment of buyers that they are targeting. I have been using the device for a while now as my primary phone and here is my review of this device
First things first, the box contained the phone and the 68W charging brick with some documentation along with a neatly designed transparent back cover. The back cover had clean cutouts for the camera assembly and also the backlight.
The design of the phone is very unique for it’s segment and looks very refreshing even when you pull it out of the box. I got the dark version of the device for review. The devices feels very premium in the hand and is crafted with durable and reliable materials. It fits into your palm very easily and I was able to grip it very well without any discomfort.

We need to talk about the Arc light interface before anything else. This is the USP of the device and it caught my eye immediately. Comes with multi-colour vibrant backlight that forms a very futuristic triangular pattern that looks very attractive and like something out of a science fiction movie. Simply putting the phone on the table will get you guaranteed attention. The important thing about this back light design is the fact that it can be customized for scenarios like – Music, Incoming Calls, Notification and Boot. This effect with the back light supports all top music apps and syncs to the beats of the music with its Party and Pure Mode. Besides the LED lights in the back, the phone comes with a three-dimensional textured back panel that has a futuristic geometrical cutout based design. I particularly loved the coil-like cutout in the middle of the back. This back design alone will make the device very attractive to the younger crowd. Eyeballs and attention guaranteed when you pull the phone out.
Apart from the design, the phone does also pack a punch for its price segment in the performance department. The POVA 5 Pro 5G is Powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 6080 processor performance. The phone has an AnTuTu score of 390k. The device supports up to 16GB (8+8GB) RAM*+ 256GB ROM. I got the 8GB RAM and 128 GB Storage variant for review. The phone also has Large VC cooling technology to ensure that it does not heat up in hand. This is again a great feature for the price segment.
During my usage, I found that the device performed very well and was able to handle multi-tasking without any stutter. The call quality was good and I experienced absolutely no call drops. The device supports Indian 5G bands and I was able to experience 5G speeds without any hassle. The cooling technology is handy when you are gaming. Gaming support is good and I was able to play all the current popular games without any frame drops or lags.
The 50MP+AI camera does well and the pictures come out well-fleshed out. The colors are well balanced and the range is very good. I had no complaints with the pictures. The 16 MP front camera also does well. All in all, no issues in the camera department.
Let us now talk about the battery and charging tech in the phone. The phone comes with a Li-Polymer 5000mAh Battery. The charging tech is also very unique and segment defining in this price range. It comes with Segment 1st 68W Ultra-Fast Charging & Bypass Charging. It is capable of charging 50% battery in 15 mins. Prevents overheating with bypass charging technology, passing power directly to your mobile phone’s motherboard while playing games on charging. This helps two fold, first the game performance is unhindered and then since the motherboard charges directly, the phone does not heat up.
Coming to the pricing, which is another key takeaway for this phone
