OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition First Impressions: Much More Than A Variant, A True Powerhouse

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition

The OnePlus 7 Series  has been a success for OnePlus and they already have the devices gathering a lot of interest and buzz. In this scenario, the company has launched a new variant in partnership with McLaren racing. This new variant is not just a OnePlus 7T Pro in another shade. There is much more to it than meets the eye. There is a lot of design subtlety and combined thought that has gone into this one with a clear emphasis on speed. Let us look at this device in detail today.

Now that both OnePlus and McLaren are used to each other and the partnership is a year old, they have started thinking in synergy and it is very evident in the look and feel of the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. The very fact that OnePlus has taken the partnership forward with a Pro version of its flagship that is already in the premium zone is clear indication that there are no corners cut here and the focus is on premium and luxury.

One look at the phone and it definitely shows. In the McLaren Edition, the signature McLaren color, Papaya Orange, which was inspired by the speed of light, races around the bottom edge of the device before fading into the black. The pattern underneath the glass back of the phone is not the carbon fiber look this time, there are streaks of light that form a very artistic shape right through the OnePlus logo and extending further down, the whole color flow and scheme is echoing the look of one of the most innovative materials ever to grace racing. While light streaks across the McLaren logo, illuminating and disappearing in an instant. The Warp Charge 30T power unit includes a Papaya Orange braided cord cable just like the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition last year.

There is a very tastefully designed back cover that is an exquisite mix of the carbon fibre and fabric that looks and feels royal. The brand revealed that it is made of Alcantara, classic McLaren material. The OnePlus and McLaren logos add to the glitzy feeling on the whole. Feels magnificent in hand, very royal.

The phone turns a lot of heads when you just pull it out in public. It was a great conversation starter when I used it in front of people.  The iconic OnePlus alert slider is in the Papaya Orange tint and it looks very very classy.

The display is the same as the OnePlus 7T Pro launched sometime ago. Smooth, responsive, and vivid, the phone’s 6.67” Fluid  AMOLED features a 90 Hz refresh rate, QHD+ resolution, and HDR10+ technology.  A layer of gently-curved glass extends from edge to edge for an incredibly immersive viewing experience and a remarkably  premium look and feel. The cutting-edge 90 Hz refresh rate introduced on the OnePlus 7 Pro is also there on the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition, with an edge-to-edge display for seamless viewing.  Whether you’re browsing the web or scrolling through photos, experience it all in smooth, responsive, borderless 90 Hz.

The OnePlus 7T Pro’s spacious display isn’t just unbelievably smooth—it’s also unbelievably clear, boasting an impressive 3120×1440 resolution for 516 pixels per inch. Videos are crisp, images are sharp, and text is smooth, bold, and easy to read. Apologies if I am ranting a lot about the display, but believe me, once you use this display, you will never feel okay with a 60 Hz display.

Getting on to the internals, there are changes in the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren edition in the specs. The McLaren Edition is also powered by the latest mobile platform, the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 855+, which renders graphics 15% faster and significantly augments CPU performance compared to the standard Snapdragon™ 855. The key difference between a regular OnePlus 7T Pro and the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition is that the latter has 12 GB of RAM. This makes it much more powerful than the regular one. The internal storage is 256 GB.

And with 256 GB of storage, you’ll never run out of room for photos, music, or games. The phone has been upgraded with a more powerful processor, updated unlocking algorithms, and the latest in-display fingerprint reader. Unlocking is as fast as ever, and it’s now more secure and accurate.

As far as special editions go, this one is right at the top. This is much more than a variant. This is a very well thought out powerhouse that packs a huge wallop in terms of performance, speed, style and class. The OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition is indeed a cut above the rest. A very strong flagship that will redefine android experience.
