Beyerdynamic Beat Byrd Review: Flattest Design, Biggest Sound

Beyerdynamic Beat Byrd

There are dizzying choices in the world of headsets now and buying one is a very complicated affair because of that. Beyerdynamic is a known name that has come out with a new simple and no nonsense option called Beat Byrd that gives pretty neat output at a price of Rs 2199/- Here is my review of this in-ear headset from the company

Whenever one thinks of a bird, associations such as lightness and vibrancy come to mind. Be it jazz legend Charlie “Bird“ Parker or the term , “free as a bird“ – there are many characteristics that are linked to these four letters. In the same way, BYRD reflects all the facets of the new range of beyerdynamic in-ear headphones: Stylish and durable. Melodious and harmonic. Lightweight and convenient. They are made for everyone who loves absolute freedom and perfect musical enjoyment. Their casing is based on the remarkable design featured by the beyerdynamic Xelento and has been perfectly adjusted to the ergonomics of the human ear. Despite its light weight, this design augments their impressive sound performance.

The earbuds have a very pronounced flat design that’s so rare on earphones today — reason — dual and triple drivers, powerful batteries built in, and more elements that are needed in them. In this case, the buds do not protrude out of the ear canal making you sometimes even wonder if they are actually even in your ear in the first place. They are extremely comfortable and due to that you don’t even feel like you’re wearing anything at all. And a major reason for purchasing earphones apart from audio quality is the wearing comfort. The design is unconventional and it allows the earbuds to lie comfortably in your ear when your head is pressed against a pillow. This means that you can rest comfortably for long amounts without fearing that the earphones will dig into your ears and cause any pain or discomfort.

The earbuds are made of premium plastic making them sturdy enough to withstand accidental knocks when out of the ear canals. The earbuds are angled and feature conical ear tips that are also functional and go deep within the ear cavity. Coupled with the flat design, the overall design of the earbuds is made for the wearer’s comfort. On the slightly worrying side, the glossy exterior does show the dust on it. And please remember — these are only earphones and cannot be used as headsets for your smartphone. It is a simple stereo headphones, aimed for those who want simple, but good sounding earphones just for a tablet, laptop or media player. Why? There is no mic in the earphone. But it delivers a punch in the sound department.

The cables are of thicker than usual and tangle-free. This is especially very useful for those of you who just like to stuff your earphones in your pocket and run out of the house. Being thicker makes them more robust as well, so if you accidentally snag them on anything, you can be assured that they won’t break. Overall, the build quality of the Beyerdynamic earphones is pretty great and it also boasts of a design that’s way more functional than other competitors. Design department ticks all the right boxes.

While the design is by far the best feature of these earphones, the audio quality is considerably great as well, making them a very compelling option to be used with smartphones, tablets and even portable music players. The Beyerdynamic Beat BYRD has a decent extension when it comes to the highs and lows; this makes it ideal for casual listening to most of the popular genres.

Coming to the bass, we find that there is a fair amount of detail, enough for you to pick out the finer details. There is an ample amount of punch but it does extend over, leaving it in place without drowning out the other frequencies. The details are apparent in the mids as well, but not as pronounced as we find them in the bass. Listening at full volume, we did notice some distortion but good enough to be ignored. Vocals truly come alive and there is that added emphasis, making them great for listening to acapella music.

Overall, the performance is far above average, making them an ideal choice for listening to a wide range of genres.

Verdict

This earphone priced at Rs 2199 is a great option for audio buffs who need a good companion for laptops, tablets or music players.
